| Eyes Wide Shut - Martin Brand | |||
| “Eyes Wide Shut” is young media artist Martin Brand’s first major solo exhibition. In recent years, Brand has completed a series of film and video projects based on observations of young people and youth culture. Accordingly, themes such as the search for identity, aimlessness, instability, the influence of advertising and the media, the formation of cliques and scenes and the use of violence are central to his video projects and installations. In his work, Brand often moves between documentation and fiction, coincidental observation and pronounced staging. The illustrated book was published on the occasion of the exhibition “Eyes Wide Shut“, December 4, 2008 to February 1, 2009, Dortmunder Kunstverein. Published and distributed by Kerber Verlag, Bielefeld Editors: Dortmunder Kunstverein and Hartware MedienKunstVerein, Dortmund Copy editor: Francis Hunger Authors: Inke Arns (Hartware MedienKunstVerein Dortmund), Kathrin Becker (Video-Forum of the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein) and Verena Titze (Dortmunder Kunstverein) Size 170 x 235 mm, 112 pages with 61 coloured illustrations, inflexible paper cover, bound German / English ISBN 978-3-86678-221-1 |
